Dear Grown-Ups,
I have a few questions. I know you’re busy and you have a lot to do, but sometimes I hear you talking about the world and I see the way you look at the news, and it makes me wonder. You tell me not to be afraid, but are you afraid? Is there something scary out there that I should know about?
I don’t need everything to be perfect, but I do need to know if the people who are supposed to take care of me are doing okay. Are you going to be able to fix the things that are broken? And if you’re not sure, is it okay to say that you’re not sure?
I just want to know if you remember that we’re watching and listening, and that it’s okay to tell us the truth, even if the truth is that you’re figuring it out as you go. We just want to know that you’ll be there, that you’ll keep trying, and that you won’t forget that we’re looking up to you to see how to feel.
With all my little questions,
A Child Who’s Listening
