What If Enough Was… Enough?

Dear Radical Notion,

Here’s a dangerous idea for the season:
What if enough was… enough?

What if the most rebellious act you could commit this December wasn’t overspending, overworking, or overperforming – but refusing to do any of that?

What if you didn’t chase the perfect holiday?
What if you didn’t chase the perfect gift?
What if you didn’t chase the perfect version of yourself you think everyone else expects?

What if you just… stopped?

Stopped trying to prove something.
Stopped trying to match the highlight reels you see online.
Stopped letting capitalism measure your worth in receipts and shipping confirmations.

What if you dared – truly dared – to believe that you and yours already have enough?

Enough love.
Enough connection.
Enough warmth.
Enough presence.
Enough moments that matter.

The world tells us we are never enough.
Never doing enough.
Never buying enough.
Never giving enough.

But that’s a lie built to keep us scrambling.
A lie designed to leave us exhausted and ashamed, year after year, measuring ourselves against an ideal that doesn’t exist.

Here’s the dangerous truth:
If you stripped away the pressure, the lists, the debt, the guilt –
you’d still have everything that matters.

Your people.
Your breath.
Your heart.
Your presence.

What if this year, the radical act was choosing simplicity?
Choosing rest?
Choosing to not apologize for doing less – because less is sometimes the wisest choice?

What if enough was enough –
not because you settled,
but because you finally saw the abundance already in your hands?

That’s the dangerous idea.
Not excess.
Not striving.
Not chasing.

But finally – mercifully – grounding yourself in the truth that you are already holding more than you know.
